Situation
Save the Children UK works to create lasting change, ensuring every child can learn safely and grow up free from violence. Developing the global programs required to meet these goals is the responsibility of the Global Programmes and Philanthropy teams. However, in an increasingly crowded NGO landscape, the team faced a common challenge: their approach was often reactive.
While the team were expert stewards of the mission, they were frequently responding to partner agendas rather than setting their own. To move beyond transactional donations and secure ground-breaking, multi-year partnerships, their goal was to transform the team into proactive consultants capable of co-creating high-level value with governments and corporate giants alike.
Solution
To drive this transformation, Save the Children partner with True & North to train their teams on the Client-centred Thinking methodology, giving them practical, repeatable skills in consultative sales and creative thinking.
Through the workshop, the team gained tools to qualify opportunities more effectively, develop Save the Children’s offering to meet partner needs, and co-create scopes of work with key stakeholders. This shift in behavior allowed the team to take control of the narrative, leading value-based discussions much earlier in the partnership cycle.
This enabled them to deliver more for their partners, and in turn, more for children around the world.
